Overwatch Panorama Diner Jr. by Coca-Cola @Blizzcon2019

Bringing to life the Overwatch Panorama Diner by Coca-Cola at Blizzcon 2019 was a culmination of 6 years of client work for Coca-Cola (through Havas Sports & Entertainment) and a creative strategic approach that was built throughout previous work for Coca-Cola Gaming x Overwatch.

The Blizzcon thematic was "Welcome Home", while the strategic approach that we set (Ranielle Barbas as Creative Director, Emily Turner Copywriter, and me as Art Director) was to bring 'in-game lore to life'. Therefore, when I was tasked to concept the Blizzcon activation, a collaborative brainstorm with a graphic designer (Cody Arabie) and marketing manager brought all the points together and the idea into fruition. This specific activation had no CD oversight. I led the project concept-through-presentation in collaboration with our marketing team and graphic design team.

The questions I asked – how do we create a home for Coca-Cola? And what is a place we can call home from the Overwatch game? When someone mentioned, "there is a gas station", it sparked a review of the map location, and I jumped when two of us said, "there is a diner next to it".

What better place to bring the Coca-Cola x Overwatch activation to life — to create a home away from home in our fans' journeys; a place where they are welcomed to celebrate their fandom — than through the Panorama Diner Jr.

We merged two cultural elements, Coca-Cola at dinners and the lore and stories of the Overwatch characters. A key element was to place easter eggs from the game throughout the space — a plaque for Cole Cassidy's booth, the jukebox, the posters and more. The menu items had to, of course, be recreated for customers to enjoy alongside an ice-cold Coca-Cola. The activation was a success resulting in 6.2K+ visitors and 2.8M+ social impressions.
